3.5 Setting Guard Zones and Alarms
ThePathfinderPlusRadar displayallows you to set up one or two guard
zones,usingthe ALARMS key. You can set up sectorzonesor 360° (circular)
zonesasshowninFigure 3-13.
Note:You can only view and controlguardzonesif you are using theMaster
display(thatis, the displayto which the scanneris connected).

Guardzones arefixedwithrespectto the ship’s headingmarker (SHM),
movingasthe SHM moves.They alsomoveifyou offsetthe center,orifyou
changethe rangescale,so thatthearea you have markedis maintained.
Theguardalarm soundswhenatarget enters a guardzone, exceedingthe
target densitythresholdwithinthe zone;the alarm alsosounds on a repeater
display.The alarm sensitivity controlallowsyou to set the thresholdabove
whicha newtargetwill triggeran alarm, and alsototurnthe alarmonoroff.
Note:A guardzone onlyoperateswhen the whole zone is displayedon the
screen,or couldbe displayedby offsettingthecenter.In addition,a guard
zoneis inactivefor 10 secondsafterit is placedor re-sized,to avoidinappro-
priatealarmsduringpositioning.
