2.5 Chart Display Control Functions
Moving Around the Chart
Youwillnormally operatethechartplotterwith the chartshowingyour
vessel’scurrentlocation.Thedefaultorientation isNorth-Up,andthevessel
movesacrossthescreen.Youwillneedtomovethechartifyourvesselmoves
outofthe area currentlydisplayed,or if you wish toexamineor place
waypointsinanotherarea. Alternatively, you can home thecursorontothe
vesselusingFIND SHIP.
Thereare four ways in which you canmove thechart:
• Usethetrackpad to movethe cursortotheedgeofthe chart.The chartwill
panacross.Thismethodisusefuliftheareayouwishtoseeisonly justoff
the screen.
• Usethe context-sensitivecursortochangethe chartcenter.
• Automatically re-centerthe vesselusing the FIND SHIP softkey.
• Changethechartscaletozoomoutandintoanewareacenteredonthecur-
sorposition. This methodisusefulif theareayou wish to seeisalongdis-
tance away.
Changing the Chart Center
Youcanmovetheareaof the chartdisplayed onthescreen using thecontext-
sensitive cursor.This allowsyoutocenteryour vesselinthemiddle of the
screen,ortomovethe chartsothatyour vessel isdisplayed off-center
anywhereon the screen.
➤ To center the chart:
1. Usethetrackpadtomovethecursortothevessel’sposition.Thecursortext
POS is displayed.
2. PressCLEAR. The chartismoved so that your vessel’s positionis in the
centerofthescreen.
➤ Youusethecontext sensitivecursorto selectand move your vessel’s position
off-center(thelabelPOS isdisplayed).SeeMovinganddeletingitemswiththe
context-sensitivecursor onpage 1-17.
