SeaTalk® and NMEA
In
SeaTalk Connection
Thisconnectionis necessaryfor full functionality between hsb
2
series
displays.SeaTalkdata,if present,is theprimarysourceforallnavigational
dataexceptheading.
TheSeaTalkinput/output should beconnectedat the rearSeaTalk3-pin
connector.Thisappearsas follows,when viewed fromoutside:

Note:
1.IfyouusetheSeaTalkconnectoryoumustfitthesuppliedferritetothecable
forEMC CE conformance.Theferritemustbeclippedto thecableascloseto
theconnectoraspossible.
2.Thedisplaydoesnotsupply12VviatheSeaTalkconnector,neitherdoesthe
SeaTalkconnectorrequire 12V tooperate.
12V is required forotherSeaTalk units(except where SeaTalkisconnected
onlybetweentwo
hsb
2
displays).
3.If you are connectingan activecompass to theradar,the NMEA input has
priority. You should,thereforeuse an NMEA input channel(seePower and
NMEA InputConnection)ratherthantheSeaTalkinterface, unlessthe com-
passonly has a SeaTalkoutput.
To connectthedisplayunitto the SeaTalkbus, connect a standardSeaTalk
cablebetweentheSeaTalkconnectoronthe rearofthedisplayand a SeaTalk
instrumentor theSeaTalk bus. For multi-display systems, usea SeaTalk
Junction3-wayblock(part number D244) ateachdisplay.
Standard SeaTalkcables are availablein a range of lengths(part numbers
W284to W287),and cablesforconnectingtoSeaTalkunitswith round
connectorsarealso available(partnumbersD187 or D188),seeSection 8.2
forfurtherdetails.
