5.2 Using Chart Cards
The chartplotter hasabuilt-inworldmap;most areasare displayed ona scale of
4000 nmfromthetoptothebottomofthescreen,andcanbe zoomedinto
150 nm.
Tousethechartplotterasanavigationaid,chartswithdetailedinformationforthe
area you wishtonavigateare required.The charts are available onC-MAP NT
electronicchartcards(C-Cards), each of which canstoreas manyas20chartsin
anelectronicformat.AsingleC-MAPchartnormally provides asmuch
information as is availableinpaperchartsfor thatgeographic area,andcan be
displayeddowntoarange of 1/64nm on the screen if thedata is available.
Twocardslotsareprovidedonthe displayunit.Chartdatafrombothslotscan
bedownloaded.
Thechartscaleinuseis indicatedin thestatusbar - the number representsthe
distance(innauticalmiles)displayedfromthetop of the chartwindowto the
bottomof the chartwindow.
Note:You can remove and insertcardswhilea chart is displayed.The chart
information is retainedon-screenuntilthechartplotter redraws the screen:
forexample,when youpan outsidethecurrentarea,or usetheRANGE keyto
changethe chartscale.
Dataonachartcardisalsoavailabletoarepeaterdisplay,whereitcanbeused
independently of the master;a displayon

canaccess up to six remote
chartcartridges.Whenthemasterdisplayisswitchedoffchartdataisretained
onthe repeaterscreenuntilthe chart isredrawn.
Inserting a Chart Card
➤ To inserta chartcard:
1. Checkthatthecardis a C-MAP NT C-Cardwiththe requiredchart stored
onit.
2. Openthe card cover, atthelowerleft of the displayfront panel.
3. Holdthecard withthetitlelabeltowardstheleft, as shown inthe illustra-
tion.
4. Gentlypush thecardintoone of the two slots.It will only go in if it is cor-
rectlyoriented.Pushthe cardinasfaras itwillgo,then moveittotheright
sothatthetopisunderthe retaining pegs.Thecardwillbeheldinplaceby
thepegs.
5. Closethe cardcoveruntilitclicksshut,topreventwaterenteringthe dis-
playunit.
